Thank you for visiting the Operation Uganda web site, we trust you will be motivated to be a part of the solution after following the stories of hope that the Operation Uganda bring to the people of Uganda and East Africa. Operation Uganda is an incorporated non profit organisation registered in Australia and also in Uganda as a registered Non-Government Organisation. Operation Uganda was founded and directed by Australian Assembly of God Ministers Russell and Jenny Barton in March 2005, who along with their four children moved to Uganda in mid 2005 to address the huge issues of extreme poverty, the Orphan crisis and the Aids Pandemic. Uganda has one of the highest rates of Orphans according to UNAIDS, and is in desperate need of practical assistance to restore lives. Operation Uganda is a Christ centered ministry, and hold's the values of the Holy Bible paramount. Operation Uganda has a functioning board of directors that consists of Ps Tony & Cheryl Sawrey, Ps Peter & Julie Blasé, Mike & Merle Norris, and Graeme & Marge Ross, all donations and gifts made to Operation Uganda are tax deductible in Australia.
Russell & Jenny with their four children Harley, Bec, Grace & Matty with Sandra, Zaitune, & Emmanuel from Jordan House
On the 7th August 2004, the Barton family lost all their possessions when their house was destroyed by fire, from the ashes of despair rose the hope to make a difference in the world, after losing everything the family was convinced more than ever that the most important things in life weren't things but more importantly they are people, so this ordinary Australian family who was determined not to just sit back and listen to statistics and watch news headlines about the injustices around the planet, they sold all there belongings and packed there suitcase's and landed in Entebbe Airport in Uganda less than a year after there house fire, and are now living in Kampala the capital of Uganda, with their four children, Harley 14, Rebecca 12, Grace 7, and Matthew 6. The Barton family felt it was not just an opportunity to assist our fellow man but rather our responsibility, taking literally the verse's in James 1:27 - "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world", and Micah 6:8 - "what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love mercy, and to walk humbly with you God".
It is my pleasure to recommend the Ministry of Operation Uganda directed by Pastor Russell & Jenny Barton. Pastor Russell & Jenny have pioneered this Ministry thrust in the Nation of Uganda with a distinct call of God to do so. They carry a burning passion to make a difference, a passion that is inspiring & contagious. Pastor Russell & Jenny Barton are a credible, authentic Ministry that is producing tremendous results for the Kingdom. I recommend their family Ministry as one that will ignite passion in your Church for a world harvest. Our Church has adopted them as a part of our family. I have known Russell Barton for around 3 years now and would wholeheartedly recommend him for ministry in our churches. His commitment to hands on ministry is evident in his life, his passion, and his dedication to Uganda. I would also
confidently encourage financial support to their mission in Uganda. I believe their motto from 1 John 3:18 (Let us love . . .in action and truth) is personally lived through them, and that they are totally worthy of support.
